Registration Information for Second Semester 2017-2018 (172)

Registration confirmation is the only proof of registration for term 172. Failing to do so will result in dropping of courses and the term.

Registration Confirmation for term 172 (Very important)

Registration confirmation will start from Sunday, 21st January, 2018 7:30 AM – Until last day for late registration i.e. Wednesday 24th January 2018 (up to 4:00 PM)

I. Early Registered :
  • All active college level students who intend to continue studies at KFUPM should Early Register for term 172.
  • The student can early register for courses in term 172 through the Banner Web during the designated period. (see Early Registration Events).
  • The student can view his degree audit, transcript and schedule of classes through the Banner Web in order to plan his schedule.
II. Students who do not Early Register:
  • Students who do not early register will be able to register during designated registration period of term 172 in available sections only.
III. Readmitted Students:
  • Students who are readmitted for the term 172 will be able to register through the Banner Web during the designated period. (see Early Registration Events).
IV. Pre-requisite/Co-requisite Courses:
  • Since students are fully responsible for their registration, it is entirely their responsibility to make sure that both the pre-requisite and co-requisite requirements have been met for their registered courses, i.e., they are required to drop any course(s), which has pre-requisite/co-requisite course that has not been taken or failed/withdrawn in the previous terms.
V. Course Load:

a) For Students on GOOD STANDING Status:
  • The minimum course load is 12 credit hours during a regular semester, provided that the total number of credit hours registered by a student in any two consecutive semesters is not less than 28. This condition is relaxed in the last semester before graduation.
  • The maximum course load is 19 credit hours.
  • A student is permitted to register for 21 credit hours with the approval of his department chairman, if the student has maintained a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 out of 4.00 in all works undertaken during the preceding terms in which he earned his last 28 credit hours.
  • The minimum course load in a summer session is 1 credit hour and maximum is 8 credit hours.
b) For Students Not On GOOD STANDING Status:
  • The minimum course load is 12 credit hours.
  • The maximum course load is 15 credit hours.
  • Students who have early-registered in more than 15 credit hours and their academic status is not on GOOD STANDING should drop course(s) to bring the course load within 15 credit hours. Otherwise, their course(s) will be dropped after the last day of adding.
  • Students who are promoted to freshman level and whose cumulative GPA is less than 2.00 in prep. year program, their course load should not exceed 15 credit hours.
  • The maximum course load is 7 credit hours in summer session.
c) Last Term before Graduation:
  • The minimum course load for a student in his last term before graduation is 1 credit hour and the maximum is 20 credit hours (GOOD STANDING students only) during a regular semester provided the student’s cumulative GPA of all work undertaken during the preceding terms in which he earned his last 28 credit hours is not less than 2.00 out of 4.00.
